Nichola Howard, Wigan President of Greater ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ Chamber of Commerce and Managing Director of branding agency Launch North West, is proud to back the launch of ‘Sound Her Out’.
She is joining forces to launch a new campaign designed to empower more women to thrive in the music industry.
The campaign will launch with a high-profile panel event on Tuesday 15th April, from 6pm to 9pm at The Snug Coffee House in Atherton, with tickets priced at just £5.
Headlining the panel is Katie Lloyd (pictured right) bassist and vocalist of the chart-topping band The Lottery Winners, who brings a national profile and powerful voice to the conversation around gender equality in music.
Katie will be joined by a panel of respected figures from the local scene including:
- Bek Jones, singer-songwriter and co-founder of Sound Her Out
- Rachael Flaszczak, owner of grassroots music venue The Snug Coffee House and co-founder of Sound Her Out
- More names to be confirmed
The panel will explore the realities of being a woman in the music industry today, from underrepresentation and pay gaps to safety concerns and access to creative opportunities.
The event will kick off a wider programme of activity aimed at building a stronger, more inclusive pathway for women in music.
Singer-songwriter Bek Jones (pictured right) said: “When I started out in music, I didn’t know where to turn. I was lucky to find people who supported me, but not everyone gets that. ‘Sound Her Out’ is about building those pathways for more women, especially those balancing music with work and family life. We want to break down barriers and open up the industry to more female talent.â€
‘Sound Her Out’ is sponsored by with Bolton FM covering the event live on air.
Nichola Howard said: “We’re launching Sound Her Out to shine a light on the inequality that still exists in the music industry and to do something about it. Both Jo and I are proud to support this through Launch North West and if my role as Wigan Chamber President can amplify our message then that’s a good thing.
"Having someone of Katie Lloyd’s calibre also backing this message at our very first event is huge. It shows how important these conversations are not just locally, but across the industry.â€
