At a recent Women in Tech event in ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥, IBM were joined by four panellists:

- Sharon Bagshaw - AMS Chief Client Officer APAC, EMEA, UK & Ireland

They discussed strategies for achieving work-life balance in the technology industry. The panel, addressed questions related to mentorship, networking, and self-care.

When asked about the importance of mentorship, a key response stated that "maintaining a diverse network of mentors from various areas of the business is crucial. Informal mentors, who are not necessarily in your direct line of management, can provide valuable perspectives and guidance."

There was an emphasis on the benefits of having an external mentors, sharing experiences with a coach who helped navigate a challenging transition within IBM: "Having an external coach can provide objective advice and support during critical career moments."

Addressing work-life balance was another key topic. "Setting clear boundaries and prioritizing self-care is essential in a demanding industry like technology. Make time for exercise, meditation, and hobbies outside of work to maintain a healthy balance."

The panelists also highlighted the importance of fostering a supportive community within the ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ tech scene. "Creating an online platform or regular meet ups for mentorship, networking, and knowledge sharing allows professionals to connect, learn from each other, and build lasting relationships."
